Plane Carrying US Defense Secretary Forced to Land in UK Because of Crack in Cockpit Window
A jet transporting Pete Hegseth was forced to make an unplanned landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday after a crack was identified in the jet's front window, per an official announcement which verified that all passengers were secure.
"The jet landed in accordance with standard protocol and all individuals on the flight, including Secretary Hegseth, is unharmed," an official representative said in a public statement.
Hegseth was returning from a short visit to the Belgian capital during the flight.
This event is not the initial instance that a American defense plane carrying a senior official has experienced mechanical issues.
In a previous incident this year, a United States Air Force aircraft ferrying the US Secretary of State to the city in Germany was forced to turn back to Washington DC after experiencing a mechanical fault.
